Mike Finizza. Sea Hunter is an autonomous unmanned surface vehicle (USV) launched in 2016 as part of the DARPA Anti-Submarine Warfare Continuous Trail Unmanned Vessel program. No matter if they are in the sea, in the desert or in an ice hole. The vessel continues the line of experimental "Sea" ships, including the Sea Shadow, Sea Fighter, and Sea Slice. The 132ft-long (40-metre) unarmed prototype, dubbed Sea Hunter, is the naval equivalent of Google's self-driving car, designed to cruise on the ocean's surface without a crew. With its advanced stabilizing abilities, this chopper can hover above people who need rescue. After two years of testing and evaluation by DARPA and the military, command of the "Sea Hunter," an unmanned autonomous warship, has been officially passed to the U.S. Navy.
