NASA / ESA / SOHO / Babak Tafreshi. In 2007, it appeared in SOHO's LASCO C3's field of view from April 2 to 6, peaking in brightness on April 4, 2007, around magnitude +2. Because of the large compression factors used, these beacon images are of much lower quality than the actual science data. It could be the most spectacular seen in SOHO images in many years, or possibly ever. In these observations, its coma was substantially smaller than the Sun in volume, but the forward scattering of light made the comet appear significantly brighter. A newly discovered comet is about to enter the SOHO LASCO C3 field of view. It was discovered in images taken by Austrailian astronomer Terry Lovejoy taken Novenmber 27th.

SOHO was designed to study the internal structure of the Sun, its extensive outer atmosphere and the origin of the solar wind, the stream of highly ionized gas that blows continuously outward through the Solar System. These data are used for space weather forecasting. You are not alone. Comet ISON Dives Toward the Sun (SOHO LASCO images) Comet ISON (C/2012 S1) captured by the SOHO spacecraft as it dives in to the sun's corona on November 28, 2013, and in a dramatic action a fraction of the icy body returns from the hell the next day. The Solar & Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) project is a cooperative effort between the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA. If you have looked at data from the SOHO LASCO C3 coronagraph over the last week or so you may have noticed the very bright object in the field-of-view. You might even think it looks like a UFO.

NASA Manipulated SOHO LASCO C2 Sun Images from August 23, 2017 Images captured on August 23, 2017 by NASA’s SOHO LASCO C2 satellite show at one point complete darkness behind the sun, which we have reported in our article including the original video: NASA Satellite captured mysterious Black Planet ‘Rahu’ in the darkness behind the Sun?
The Cover-Up! The STEREO space weather beacon telemetry mode is a very low rate, highly compressed data stream broadcast by the spacecraft 24 hours per day.
